Valuation Options for Your Move

When it comes to moving, protecting your belongings is our top priority. Fly Guy Moving offers three valuation options to ensure your items are covered in the event of damage. Choose the policy that best suits your needs before your move begins.

1. Minimum Carrier Liability

In this option, there is no additional charge to you. Damaged items will be reimbursed at $0.30 per pound per article.

Example: A chair weighing 10 pounds will be reimbursed for $3.00 (10 lbs x $0.30 = $3.00).

2. Declared Value

By declaring the valuation of your shipment and paying a corresponding fee, you are eligible to be reimbursed for the depreciated value of a damaged item. The additional charge is calculated at $1.10 per $100 of your total shipment valuation. The customer will declare this total shipment valuation prior to the move starting to determine the cost to the customer. The total shipment valuation cannot exceed $30,000.

Example: You value your total shipment at $20,000. You owe $220 in addition to your moving expenses ($20,000 / $100 x $1.10 = $220).

Damaged items are reimbursed at their depreciated values which are based on item-specific rates and the age of the article. Please contact Fly Guy Moving if you have questions about specific items.

Fly Guy Moving reserves the right to repair items that are damaged instead of reimbursement. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.

3. Outside Insurance

Customers may obtain insurance on their items via a third-party insurance company. Details of the policy and all claims would be handled between the customer and the insurance company only. Fly Guy Moving does not provide or sell insurance.

Check your homeowner or renter insurance policy to determine if items are already covered during transport.

FYI: Particle Board Policy

Particle board items and other ready-to-build furniture will not be eligible for reimbursement in the event of damages. Ask your mover for the complete particle board policy for more information.
